Media Bias? No!

The annual March For Life for 2009 had over 200,000 people in attendance in our nation's capitol and one would think that this would be an easy story to pick up, specially considering the March has been happening for over 30 years in the same location (Washington, D.C.) and on the same day (January 22nd, the anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision). Nonetheless, most of America's national news sources failed to pick up the story, except for EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network), a Catholic station, who was broadcasting live. A Google search revealed that two more Catholic newspapers picked up the story, along with a plethora of blogs.

Further investigation, however, led me to an unlikely news source: RussiaToday, a 24/7 English-speaking news that endeavors to bring Russian news to the global front, did a short piece on the March (which is more than Fox, CBS, or MSNBC can all say together). Not being American, they do not have a slant on the story they presented, talking to both sides (the Pro-Life Marchers and the Pro-Choicers, a.k.a. those protecting Planned Parenthood). RussiaToday seemed surprised to note that the largest march on Washington, D.C. is not for world peace, but for life and to protest abortion.

If you pause the video at 2:03, you can even see our very own Hillsdale College Students For Life! Hillsdale College sent over 50 people to the March, and now we can be seen on internationally! (See Catherine's post below for more details on the March.)
